Frame and Seal Wiping
Once the glass shines, we focus on the frames and seals around it. Dirt loves to settle in corners and edges where the skylight meets the roof, especially after Kelowna's dry, dusty summers. Left alone, that buildup slides right back onto the glass with the next rain. We work into every nook here, since a clean frame really brightens up the whole skylight.

Skylight Glass Washing
We clean skylight glass inside and out whenever we can safely reach both sides. Kelowna's dry summers and dusty winds cover rooftop glass fast, since it sits exposed to sun and weather all day long. When grime piles up, your home feels dimmer than it should. We use the right gear for angled and hard-to-reach spots, so your skylights end up just as clear as any window in the house.

Debris and Leaf Removal
Rooftop skylights collect more than dust. Leaves, twigs, and small branches pile up fast, especially after fall winds or storms near tree-lined areas like Knox Mountain. We clear all of this off so it doesn't sit, trap moisture, and cause bigger problems later on. It's a simple step that keeps your skylight looking clean and functioning properly.

Seal and Crack Check
While we're up there, we take a close look at the sealant and caulking around your skylight. Sun, rain, and unpredictable Kelowna weather wear seals out quicker than most people expect. If we spot cracks or gaps, we point them out right away. Catching small issues early is a lot easier than dealing with leaks later.

We believe clean homes make people happy. A sparkling window, a clear gutter, or a fresh driveway can turn a house into a place you're proud to come home to. That's the feeling we want for every person we work with in Kelowna, BC.
Everything we do comes back to three simple goals:
Our Mission to Serve Kelowna

3. We Reach Tricky Spots
We clean hard-to-reach windows other companies might skip. Some houses have really tall windows or glass railings inside and outside that are tricky to get to. That doesn't stop us! We bring long ladders and lots of practice to safely clean them. No matter how high or tricky the spot is, we know how to do it safely, so your whole house gets clean.
4. Detail-Focused Work
We clean more than just the glass. We also clean the window tracks and even your ceiling fans while we're there. If you want us to touch up a certain spot, just tell us and we'll fix it. We're proud of our work, so we often take before-and-after photos to show how much better it looks. Little details matter to us, and we don't skip them.

5. Polite and Professional
Our team is kind, polite, and easy to have in your home. We keep you updated the whole time we work, and we don't mind your dogs being around. If you want us to skip strong chemicals, we can do that too. After the job is done, we check back to make sure you're happy, and we can even set up regular cleanings for you.

1
Scrub
We start by scrubbing every window with soap and water to loosen dirt, dust, and grime. This gets rid of the tough stuff so the glass is ready for a clean finish.
Our 3-Step Process

2
Squeegee
Next, we use a squeegee to wipe the glass clean. This step removes the soapy water and leaves your windows streak-free and shiny.

3
Detail
Last, we go back and check every window closely. We wipe the edges, clean the tracks, and fix any spots we missed, so everything looks perfect.
We are a local window cleaning company in Kelowna who provides Rooftop & Skylight Cleaning services across Kelowna.
Your skylight isn't broken. It's just dirty, and you can't reach it to fix that yourself.
You know that hazy look everybody worries about? Most of the time, it's just a mix of dust, pollen, and hard water that clings to the outside glass, where a ladder and a paper towel won't cut it. Sometimes you get condensation between the panes because the seal is failing, but honestly, it's usually just random grime. Rain doesn't clean a skylight, it splashes off a bit of dust and keeps going. Pollen, bird droppings, hard water spots, they all stay put. Skylights don't magically clean themselves, no matter what someone might've told you.
If you actually want it clean, here's what works. Grab some purified water and a soft brush or squeegee on an extension pole. Skip the soap, skip the streaks, and definitely skip climbing onto your roof waving a spray bottle around. That's what we do, by the way, window cleaners take care of skylights, it's part of the gig.
We went out to a home in Kettle Valley last September for a regular window cleaning, and the homeowner mentioned their skylight had looked cloudy for months, they just figured it was scratched and needed replacing. We took a look and it wasn't the glass at all, it was a thick layer of dust and pollen buildup from summer sitting on the outside, plus some hard water spots from sprinkler overspray hitting it at an angle. We cleared it off with purified water and a squeegee on an extension pole, and by the time we were done the skylight let in noticeably more light, no replacement needed, just a proper cleaning.
Want to keep your skylight in good shape? Look at the seal once a year for any cracks. Kick off leaves and branches before they trap moisture. Clean the glass a couple times a year so all that junk doesn't build up and block your sunlight.
But let's be real, skylights aren't perfect. If the seal starts to fail, leaks happen. Cleaning them is annoying since they're parked up on your roof. With solid materials and good maintenance, they last about 10 to 20 years. Most issues we see? Leaky or foggy seals letting moisture sneak in between the panes.
When's the best time in Kelowna to clean your roof and skylights? Think spring and fall. Spring gets rid of winter's mess and pollen before summer heat locks it in. Fall scrubs off leaves so snow won't seal them onto your glass for months.
So if your skylight's cloudy and you're not sure why, now you know. Call Squeaky Squeegees, we'll take care of it.

Why Kelowna's Rooftop & Skylight Get So Dirty ?
Flat Surfaces Collect More Grime
Skylights don't sit upright like regular windows, they're flat or slanted toward the sky, which makes them an easy target for anything blowing through the air. Kelowna's dry summers mean weeks can pass without rain, so dust, pollen, and dirt just settle and sit instead of washing away naturally. Even when rain finally shows up, it usually isn't enough to fully clear a flat surface the way it might rinse a vertical window. Homes in open areas or newer developments like Black Mountain and Upper Mission, where landscaping is still filling in, tend to notice this buildup even faster.
Runoff from Roofing Material
Roof shingles and other materials naturally break down over time, especially under Kelowna's intense summer sun, which regularly pushes past 30°C for weeks at a stretch. As shingles age, they shed small bits of grit and granules that rainwater sweeps directly across nearby skylights. Once that water dries up, it leaves behind a thin, gritty film on the glass. Older homes or properties with aging roofs, common in established neighbourhoods like Rutland or South Pandosy, tend to see this issue more often than newer builds with fresher roofing materials still holding up well.
Nearby Vents and Exhaust
Roof vents, chimneys, and exhaust fans often sit close to skylights, and they release fine particles, soot, or greasy residue that slowly drifts down and settles onto the glass. Homes with older HVAC systems, which are still common throughout Kelowna's established areas, tend to produce more of this residue over time. Winter months make this worse, since furnaces and fireplaces run more often, releasing extra particles into the air around the roofline. Over a full season, this buildup can leave a noticeably greasy film that plain rain or snowmelt alone won't fully clear off the skylight surface.
Moss and Algae Growth
The shady, damp parts of a roof, usually the north-facing side, create perfect conditions for moss or algae to take hold, especially during Kelowna's wetter shoulder seasons in spring and fall. Water running off these green patches can carry spores directly onto nearby skylights, leaving stains on both the glass and surrounding frame. Homes tucked into tree-covered areas near Knox Mountain or along Mission Creek, where shade lingers longer through the day, tend to deal with this more than homes in open, sun-exposed parts of the city where moss simply doesn't get the damp conditions it needs to grow.
Snow and Ice Melt Residue
Kelowna winters bring regular snowfall and freeze-thaw cycles, with January temperatures often hovering around freezing. When snow sitting on a roof melts and then refreezes overnight, it drags leftover dirt, grit, and mineral residue across the skylight surface each time it shifts. By the time spring arrives, homeowners are often left with spots and streaks that don't just disappear once the weather warms up. Roofs with less sun exposure, particularly shaded sections common in older Kelowna neighbourhoods with mature trees, tend to hold onto snow and ice longer, giving this residue more time to build up.
Wildfire Ash and Smoke Settling
Wildfire season is a regular part of Kelowna summers, and skylights face it directly since they sit exposed to the sky all day. The McDougall Creek wildfire in August 2023 covered West Kelowna and much of the city in thick smoke and ash for days, and flat rooftop glass caught far more fallout than vertical windows ever would. Ash mixed with morning dew can turn slightly acidic, settling into a stubborn film on skylight glass if it's not cleaned promptly. Homes across the Okanagan Valley, regardless of neighbourhood, tend to notice this buildup every wildfire season, making early cleanup important before residue has time to set in.
